The role: We are looking for up to 1 outstanding researcher to join the dynamic Prof. Tripathi’s Group (http://home.iitk.ac.in/~snt/) with in Civil Engineering Department. The post is available for a period of six months or till end of project, whichever is earlier. This position will be at the forefront of modeling based assessments of thermal infrared technologies. The position is part of the project that is of great national importance with international collaborations and is funded by Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) as a part of Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), under UK’s Official Development Assistance (ODA).
Successful applicant will work closely with national and international collaborators and is expected to develop innovative approaches towards handling large data sets. The results should be presented at national and international meetings as well as published in high-impact publications.

- Contribution to the intellectual life of a dynamic research group, including meetings and collaborations

Selection criteria: Researchers applying for the post should have obtained a doctorate in Civil Engineering/ Atmospheric Sciences/Physics/Climate Sciences /Environmental Sciences/Atmospheric physics or a related quantitative field from a reputed university/institute and an excellent track record and publications/patents in a research area relevant to the sponsored project. Application must possess a strong background in atmospheric modeling. Additional experience in handling large set of data, field experiment environmental sensing/measurement is important. He/she must have the ability to work collaboratively yet independently. Must have strong computing skills and familiar with atmospheric models (WRF and WRF-CHEM). He/she will get the opportunity to work in a conducive environment and can avail the hostel/family accommodation facility at IITK as per Institute norms. For Rs. 55000 and Rs. 60000 salary, a minimum of one the two years experience, respectively is also required.
