Post 1: Project Scientist – C

Primary Role: Model Developer (Dynamical core)

Position Code: A

Essential qualification:

  • Master Degree with 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in Mathematics/Atmospheric science/Computer application from recognized university/institution
  • A minimum of 03 years of Post qualification working experience in code development related to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) problems evidence by peer review papers.

Desirable qualification:

  • PhD in above subject would be a desirable qualification.
  • Very good knowledge of high level programming language preferably FORTRAN 90/95.
  • Good knowledge/experience in Numerical methods
  • Experience in development of parallel numerical algorithms.

Job responsibilities:

  • Understanding dynamical core (DC) for already existing weather forecasting models.
  • Improvement in DC by changing numerical methods/algorithms.
  • Development of full model based on DC.
  • Present work in conference and publish in peer reviewed journals.

Salary:  Maximum upto Rs. 70000.00 (per month ). Actual salary will be fixed based on qualification, merit, skill and performance.

Term of Appointment: One year and extendable to maximum up to two more years based on performance evaluation and contribution.

Post 2: Project Scientist – C

Role: Dynamical Core Model Programmer

Post Code: B

Essential qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications (ET)/Computer Science Engineering (CSE) with at least 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) from a recognized university
  • A minimum of 03 years of Post qualification working experience in handling of weather forecasting models including debugging and profiling. 

Desirable qualification:

  • Master/PhD degree in above subject.
  • Very good knowledge of high level programming language preferably FORTRAN 90/95 as well as experience in profiling and optimization of code.
  • Sound knowledge of scripting languages Python, shell scripting, Meteorological data analysis tools (like GrADS, FERRET, NCL, NCO, CDO etc.)
  • Good knowledge of parallel programming concept and GPU programming.
  • Knowledge of HPC Systems Administration would be an added advantages

Job responsibilities:

  • To write code and implement parallel algorithms on supercomputers. Handling of models running, debugging and profiling of them.
  • To develop job script for running models.
  • Help developers for running model code as providing assistances for solving HPC related issues.

 

Salary Range: Maximum upto Rs. 70000.00 (per month ). Actual salary will be fixed based on qualification, merit, skill and performance

Role: Scientific Programmer/researcher

Essential qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electronics (ET)/Computer Science Engineering (CSE) with at least 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) from a recognized university

    OR

    Master Degree with 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in Mathematics/Atmospheric science/Computer applications/Computer science from recognized university/institution

  • A minimum of 03 years of Post qualification experience in code development.

Desirable qualification:

  • PhD in above subject would be a desirable qualification.
  • Very good knowledge of high level programming language (like FORTRAN/C/C++) preferably FORTRAN 90/95.
  • Coding experience for the simulation of atmospheric problems (like DNS of cloud physics)
  • Good knowledge/experience of Numerical methods.
  • Experience in teaching/guiding students.

Job responsibilities:

  • Development of code for model, based on proposed numerical methods and dynamical core.
  • Management of overall project development, coordination with team and project managers.
  • Preparation of manuscripts for conferences as well as peer reviewed journals.
  • Guidance of bachelor/master students working on problems related to project.
