Structure-electrochemical property relationships in metastable and nanocrystalline materials, development of materials for extreme corrosive environments, coatings for corrosion control, material-microbe interactions leading to bio-fouling and microbially induced corrosion, and biohydrometallurgy for recycling industrial wastes
