On November 26, 2024, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur welcomed a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in India. The delegation comprised Ms. Adelle Gillen, Public Diplomacy Officer- Education; Ms. Gauri Kalra, Education Specialist; and Dr. Aditi, Education USA Advisor at the United States-India Education Foundation. The purpose of the visit was to enhance academic and scientific collaboration between IITK and U.S. universities.
A key highlight of the visit was a meeting with IITK Director, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, and Prof. Bushra Ateeq, Dean of International Relations. The discussions focused on promoting collaboration in various cutting-edge research fields and exploring ways to strengthen international academic partnerships. The delegation also met with the Fulbright Scholars, including Prof. Arjun Bagchi, Department of Physics; Prof. Sathesh Mariappan, Department of Aerospace Engineering; Prof. Subhankar Mukherjee, Department of Management Sciences; Prof. Ritwij Bhowmik, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences & Design Programme; Prof. Animesh Das, Department of Civil Engineering, and Prof. Kumar Ravi Priya, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.
During their visit, the delegation engaged in productive discussions with several esteemed professors, including Prof. Bushra Ateeq, Dean of International Relations; Prof. Prabodh Bajpai, Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering; Prof. Arjun Ramakrishnan, Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering; Prof. Priyanka Bagade, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; and Prof. Soumyabrata Roy, Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering. Prof. Ateeq provided an overview of IITK's global presence to the delegation.
The visit represented an important milestone in strengthening the academic partnership between IIT Kanpur and U.S. institutions.
